
Air India Flight 171 crashed into a residential area in Ahmedabad, India on June 12, 2025.
The flight was en route to London and was carrying 242 passengers and crew. In total, more than 265 people died, including people on the ground. A section of the plane crashed into a building for doctors and students. A portion also hit the canteen where people were eating.
According to his brother, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, had no idea how he got out of the plane. He was rushed to the hospital and is now recovering. Officials have also confirmed his identity.
According to a doctor, he saw 15 to 20 burned bodies in the area. They also rescued several students. The search for victims is still ongoing with the help of sniffer dogs and firefighters.
According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is a "heartbreaking tragedy." The Tata Group has also provided financial assistance of ₱10 million for each family that lost a loved one.
The Civil Aviation Authority said the plane sent a mayday call before it crashed. According to an expert, the incident may have been caused by a double engine failure, possibly due to a bird strike.
