Drivers caught violating traffic laws via video may have their licenses automatically suspended for 90 days, according to Transport Secretary Vince Dizon.
According to the secretary, he has directed the LTO to immediately suspend the license of any driver caught violating the law on video, even without an investigation or hearing.
“If there is a video seen on social media showing an abusive driver, automatic suspension,” said Dizon.
He added, "There is no hearing-hearing. As long as there is proof of abuse on the road, immediate suspension. The suspension is for 90 days."
This follows serious accidents such as the SCTEX collision and NAIA Terminal 1 collision which resulted in the deaths of twelve people. Some of Dizon's proposed changes include reducing the driving time of PUV drivers to 4 hours, mandatory drug testing, and a stricter licensing process.
