A 2-year-old child was kidnapped in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, past 10 p.m. on March 25, 2025. According to Carlos Malinao, the child's grandfather, the 41-year-old suspect suddenly entered their house with a gun and immediately took the child. They knew the suspect because he was a friend of the child's father.
After taking the child, the suspect ordered them to take him to Los Baños, Laguna, where his brother lived. Out of fear, they complied and boarded a jeepney, along with the the suspect's wife and the the child's parents. During the trip, the suspect threatened them with killing the child. Malinao himself drove to Los Baños, while the mind was focused on the child.
Upon arriving at Quezon Memorial Circle, the suspect became angry because of the ambulance blocking the road. He suddenly alighted from the jeepney carrying the child and boarded a van to escape. Later, he also got off, then got on the motorcycle, but he punched the driver, causing them to fall. This is where he was arrested by police and barangay officials.
The child was injured and is currently recovering at the hospital. The child's father was also injured after the suspect attacked him, while the suspect punched the mother while inside the jeepney. A police officer was also injured in the incident. Meanwhile, the suspect tried to escape while inside the police mobile, which is why he also sustained injuries.
The suspect is now facing charges of 3 counts of attempted murder, grave threats, malicious mischief, disobedience to authorities, and alarms and scandals.
