A dead baby was found in a trash dump in Antipolo, Rizal on March 18, early morning.
According to Leilani Reyes, official of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) in Barangay San Jose, the baby was wrapped in plastic, put in a box, and covered with packing tape so it looked like a parcel this.
Based on the investigation by the Barangay San Jose Public Safety Office, the baby girl is estimated to be 6-7 months old. According to Irene Favor, also a VAWC official, the baby is reportedly intact and could have survived.
In CCTV footage, several individuals were seen throwing trash in the area where the baby was found. Authorities are still investigating who left the box.
The baby's mother or anyone involved in its abandonment may be charged.
VAWC reminds women who are not ready to care for a baby that it is better to have it adopted by the DSWD than to abandon or abort it.
