Babalik si Jared Hess bilang director at siya rin ang magsusulat ng script kasama si Chris Galletta. Ayon kay Hess, malawak ang Minecraft universe at marami pang pwedeng tuklasin para sa susunod na adventure.
Inaasahan ding muling bumalik sina Jack Black bilang Steve at Jason Momoa sa kanilang roles. Usap-usapan din na mas bibigyang pansin si Alex, na unang ipinakita sa end credits ng unang pelikula.
Ang opisyal na teaser na may dalawang pickaxes ay lalo pang nagpasaya sa fans. Dahil dito, sigurado nang babalik sa big screen ang paboritong blocky world ng Minecraft.
Ang release date ng Minecraft 2 ay nakatakda sa Hulyo 23, 2027 at inaasahang magiging isa na namang malaking hit sa takilya.
