Ang pagkamatay ni former DPWH undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral ay iniimbestigahan ng DILG. Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla sinabi na “all signs point to suicide” base sa autopsy at crime scene. Walang palatandaan ng struggle o foul play.
Cabral natagpuan sa isang ravine sa Kennon Road, Tuba, Benguet, noong Dec. 18. Ayon sa imbestigasyon, umabot siya sa lugar ng aksidente ng 10 a.m., bumalik sa hotel sa Baguio, at pagkatapos ay nagpa-drive pabalik sa parehong spot ng 2 p.m. Nang bumalik ang driver, wala na si Cabral at natagpuan ang katawan 20–30 metro sa ibaba.
Autopsy pinakita blunt force trauma sa ulo, mukha, ribs, kamay at ankles. Walang gunshot wounds, ligature marks, o stab wounds. Investigators sinabi na aksidente ay unlikely dahil head-first fall. NBI dashcam footage at hotel search nagpapatibay sa initial findings. Imbestigasyon nagpapatuloy para sa kompletong resulta.
