Makati’s Jasmine welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse with an exclusive Great Fortune 88 menu, curated by Executive Chinese Chef Chee Kin Ng, also known as Brandon. Chef Brandon, with 25 years of experience across hotels and casinos in Australia at Oceania, brings a unique twist by combining local ingredients with classic Chinese techniques.
For the Lunar New Year, Jasmine adds exciting offers to its a la carte selections. The Great Fortune 88 set is specially crafted to bring luck, prosperity, and abundance this year. Traditional celebrations begin with the Yee Sang toss, where the higher you toss, the luckier everyone at the table. Jasmine’s version features fresh salmon and their signature plum sauce, making the dish as flavorful as it is colorful.
The set highlights a variety of seafood-forward dishes. Diners start with a BBQ platter of roast honey pork and crispy pork belly, followed by a pumpkin soup stewed for 16 hours with dried scallops. The main courses include steamed garoupa with ginger and scallions, sweet and sour prawns with peppers and pineapples, and juicy scallops with chicken, shimeji mushrooms, and celery. Each dish is designed to bring a rich umami flavor and visual delight.
Chef Brandon also presents indulgent creations like abalone with sea moss and braised dried oysters, gelatinously tender stewed pork belly, and his unique take on laing with taro leaves. The set is completed with a rich fried rice packed with roast pork, fermented meat, and vegetables, and finishes with a mochi-inspired dessert in warm almond cream—a perfect balance of sweet and savory.
For those who want to celebrate at home, Jasmine offers boxed brown sugar tikoy, as well as Rose and Green Tea flavors, plus decadent chocolate cakes. The Great Fortune 88 menu is available until February 17, while nian gao and cakes are offered for the whole of February.
