The move aims to <strong data-start=\"630\" data-end=\"661\">boost mental health<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"704\">improve working conditions<\/strong> in the education sector.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"1117\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to <strong data-start=\"741\" data-end=\"777\">Education Secretary Sonny Angara<\/strong>, this benefit covers all eligible employees from <strong data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"915\">central offices to schools and community learning centers<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"958\">regardless of their employment status<\/strong>. This leave is separate from vacation and sick leave and can be used for <strong data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1114\">mental health care, physical wellness activities, or simple rest<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1119\" data-end=\"1500\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Angara said the policy is in line with the directive of <strong data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1227\">President Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d Marcos Jr.<\/strong>, which aims to promote <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1277\">employee welfare<\/strong> as part of the administration. \u201c<strong data-start=\"1312\" data-end=\"1455\">When we take care of our teachers and staff, our schools become stronger and the quality of education<\/strong> improves for our students,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1811\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to DepEd Order No. 002, s. 2026, employees may take leave <strong data-start=\"1582\" data-end=\"1619\">for up to three consecutive days<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1642\">on separate dates<\/strong> within the year. They must also <strong data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1726\">file an application five days prior to use<\/strong>, except in emergencies. It is also <strong data-start=\"1764\" data-end=\"1808\">non-cumulative and cannot be cashed<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1813\" data-end=\"2165\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The policy also stipulates that information regarding mental health will be kept <strong data-start=\"1860\" data-end=\"1918\">confidential<\/strong>, in accordance with the Data Privacy Act.
