Starting <strong data-start=\"472\" data-end=\"492\">February 15, 2026<\/strong>, new motorcycles that come straight from the showroom will have a <strong data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"603\">five-year registration validity<\/strong>, according to a statement from the <strong data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"663\">Department of Transportation (DOTr)<\/strong>. The policy aims to make owning a new vehicle more <strong data-start=\"699\" data-end=\"727\">convenient and hassle-free<\/strong> for the first five years from the date of purchase.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"814\" data-end=\"1183\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to <strong data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"874\">Transportation Secretary Giovanni \u201cBanoy\u201d Lopez<\/strong>, the approved plan by <strong data-start=\"909\" data-end=\"917\">PBBM<\/strong> aims to avoid <strong data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"958\">long lines at the LTO<\/strong>, issues of <strong data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"982\">fixers<\/strong>, and other forms of <strong data-start=\"1004\" data-end=\"1018\">corruption<\/strong>. He added that the extension of the registration validity is <strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1116\">priority for the convenience of the public<\/strong>, while maintaining the integrity and orderliness of vehicles.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1185\" data-end=\"1541\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The DOTr explained that the five-year registration validity is <strong data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1297\">only for brand-new vehicles and motorcycles<\/strong>. After this period, <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1360\">the registration will return to annual renewal<\/strong>. This includes a <strong data-start=\"1391\" data-end=\"1430\">mandatory roadworthiness inspection<\/strong> in the fourth year to ensure that vehicles on the road are <strong data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1538\">safe and in good condition<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1829\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Sec. Lopez added, \u201cIn the <strong data-start=\"1569\" data-end=\"1586\">6th year<\/strong>, the registration must be renewed every year. As the vehicle ages, it becomes <strong data-start=\"1676\" data-end=\"1693\">less reliable<\/strong> due to <strong data-start=\"1707\" data-end=\"1740\">depreciation and wear and tear<\/strong>. That is why it is important that the LTO still has a <strong data-start=\"1779\" data-end=\"1817\">comprehensive roadworthiness check<\/strong>.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1831\" data-end=\"2171\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The DOTr and LTO are expected to issue a <strong data-start=\"1875\" data-end=\"1918\">Department Order and Memorandum Circular<\/strong> that will set out in detail the <strong data-start=\"1957\" data-end=\"1995\">5-year vehicle registration policy<\/strong>, which is targeted to be implemented on <strong data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2039\">February 15, 2026<\/strong>.
