The program aims to expand and upgrade services for members who pay from their <strong data-start=\"737\" data-end=\"765\">salary or business income<\/strong>, in addition to existing support for sponsored members.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"1241\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In a live <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"867\">radio broadcast<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"921\">Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa<\/strong> explained that for many years, PhilHealth has focused on <strong data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1015\">indirect or sponsored programs<\/strong>, where beneficiaries do not pay but still receive <strong data-start=\"1094\" data-end=\"1117\">PhilHealth benefits<\/strong> funded by the government. \u201cNow, we need to <strong data-start=\"1173\" data-end=\"1220\">strengthen services for the middle class<\/strong>,\u201d Herbosa said.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1243\" data-end=\"1644\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Possible enhancements include <strong data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1321\">upgraded hospital accommodations<\/strong>. According to Herbosa, they discussed with <strong data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1401\">Executive Secretary Ralph Recto<\/strong> the possibility of having better facilities for direct payers. For example, there could be <strong data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1558\">two patients in a room<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1581\">air conditioning<\/strong>, so that direct members can enjoy their benefits better.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"2144\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Another recommendation is the expansion of <strong data-start=\"1692\" data-end=\"1781\">PhilHealth packages for hospitals implementing zero-balance billing (ZBB)<\/strong>. \u201cThis makes sense because it encourages LGU hospitals to adopt ZBB. Our actuarial team will review whether PhilHealth can support this program,\u201d Herbosa added. The current funding for hospitals is currently <strong data-start=\"2036\" data-end=\"2052\">P300 billion<\/strong>, and it is likely to increase due to the number of <strong data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"2114\">PhilHealth packages<\/strong> to be released this year.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2607\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to <strong data-start=\"2155\" data-end=\"2208\">PhilHealth spokesperson Dr. Israel Francis Pargas<\/strong>, the directive of <strong data-start=\"2234\" data-end=\"2254\">President Marcos<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2261\" data-end=\"2290\">Executive Secretary Recto<\/strong> aims to ensure that middle-income contributors receive <strong data-start=\"2324\" data-end=\"2344\">appropriate benefits<\/strong> under the <strong data-start=\"2393\" data-end=\"2428\">Universal Health Care (UHC) Act<\/strong>.
