The police<\/strong> are investigating the possibility that the ambush against the Maguindanao del Sur mayor<\/strong> was carried out by hired gunmen<\/strong>, an official said Monday. A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG<\/strong> has been formed to collect forensic evidence<\/strong> and firearms<\/strong> that will strengthen the case against those responsible.<\/span><\/p>

According to PBGen. Randulf Tua\u00f1o<\/strong>, chief of the Philippine National Police Public Information Office, all units in the Bangsamoro region<\/strong> have been ordered to identify and arrest the mastermind of the ambush, as ordered by PNP Chief LtGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.<\/strong><\/span>
\u201c\u2018The motive, sir, is being established now \u2014 they are looking into whether this hired gunman scenario<\/strong> is possible,\u201d said Tua\u00f1o. He added that PRO BAR is actively gathering evidence to prove whether the suspects are truly hired killers.<\/p>

According to Tua\u00f1o, Raprap may have used his relatives<\/strong> in the plan, including an uncle, cousin, and sibling as a driver, in a type of gun-for-hire attack<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Meanwhile, Malaca\u00f1ang<\/strong> condemned the attempted murder. According to Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro<\/strong>, the President ordered the DILG<\/strong> to immediately investigate the incident and extend peace and order measures<\/strong> in the country.
