One was first spotted in Barangay Bisagu, Aparri, on Wednesday, January 21, while the other was in Calayan town on Thursday, January 22.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"980\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Local government officials and volunteers immediately responded, providing <strong data-start=\"725\" data-end=\"772\">supportive care<\/strong> to the whales' survival. The first whale was brought to the <strong data-start=\"790\" data-end=\"809\">Cagayan Valley Marine Technology Outreach Station<\/strong> in Claveria for further rehabilitation.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"1217\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to Dr. Jefferson Soriano, <strong data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1066\">Focal Person for Marine Mammals of BFAR Region 2<\/strong>, the goal of their action is to <strong data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1156\">stabilize the movement and breathing of the marine mammal<\/strong>, and give it enough rest before releasing it again.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1219\" data-end=\"1486\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Based on the analysis, the first whale is a <strong data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1313\">female Pygmy Sperm Whale (Kogia Breviceps)<\/strong> with a length of <strong data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1346\">240 centimeters<\/strong> and an estimated weight of <strong data-start=\"1361\" data-end=\"1374\">150 kilos<\/strong>. Meanwhile, the second whale is being monitored continuously while rehabilitation is underway.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1488\" data-end=\"1763\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Due to two consecutive incidents of <strong data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1555\">mammal stranding<\/strong>, BFAR Region 2 has further <strong data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1608\">restricted monitoring<\/strong> to promptly address such incidents in the future.
