A policeman from the Marikina City Police Station<\/strong> was relieved of his duties after a road incident involving a fire volunteer vehicle<\/strong>, which was allegedly obstructed by the policeman. The incident was caught on video<\/strong> and went viral on social media.<\/span><\/p>

According to a statement from the Marikina City Police<\/strong>, the relief of the police officer is in accordance with PNP policies<\/strong> on internal accountability, even though the incident has been resolved amicably between those involved. Based on initial investigation, the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding on the road<\/strong>, but it was not disclosed where and when it occurred.<\/span><\/p>

The report states that the truck driver's actions caused confusion as to whether the vehicle should stop or continue, prompting the police to move forward<\/strong>. The truck followed closely and honked loudly, startling the police. There was also a report of a near-miss with a tricycle<\/strong> during the maneuvers. Despite this, the tension was quickly resolved and ended in a peaceful conversation.<\/span><\/p>

The owner of the fire volunteer vehicle offered a personal apology<\/strong> to the driver, and both parties agreed to resolve the incident<\/strong>. The police officer was first transferred to a Sub-Station<\/strong>, and subsequently to the Station Headquarters Support Unit (SHSU)<\/strong>. He was also ordered to submit a written explanation<\/strong> to determine whether there was sufficient basis for a possible pre-charge.<\/span><\/p>

Because of this, the Land Transportation Office (LTO)<\/strong> issued subpoenas<\/strong> to the police officer and the driver. According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao<\/strong>, the aim is to find out the real cause of the incident<\/strong>. \u201cFire trucks and other emergency vehicles play a critical role in protecting life and property<\/strong>. Blocking their path and inappropriate behavior is against the law and the principles of being a responsible citizen and public servant<\/strong>,\u201d said Asec. Lacanilao.<\/span><\/p>

As part of the legal process, those involved are ordered to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID)<\/strong> at East Avenue, Quezon City, on January 29, 2026<\/strong> at 1:00 PM, and submit a Verified or Sworn Comment\/Explanation<\/strong> along with the relevant documents.
