Critics of the election say it will prolong the military's control of the country.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"932\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Myanmar has a long history of <strong data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"688\">military rule<\/strong>, but there were ten years of civilian-led reforms before the <strong data-start=\"773\" data-end=\"781\">coup<\/strong> in 2021. Here, former democratic leader <strong data-start=\"834\" data-end=\"854\">Aung San Suu Kyi<\/strong> was detained, a civil war began, and a humanitarian crisis ensued.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"1262\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">As the <strong data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"981\">third phase of the election<\/strong> opened, polling stations opened in many districts of the country from 6 a.m. Sunday, a week before the fifth anniversary of the coup. According to experts, the election was <strong data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1201\">designed to support the military<\/strong>, especially as Suu Kyi's popular party <strong data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1259\">dissolved<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1607\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to officials, the <strong data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1338\">Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP)<\/strong>, led by retired military officers, won more than 85% of the seats in the lower house and two-thirds of the upper house in the first two rounds. Observers say the election was a <strong data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1554\">\u201cfabricated vote\u201d<\/strong> to legitimize military rule.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1983\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Despite security threats and a lack of freedom to vote in some regions, many voters like <strong data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1749\">Teacher Zaw Ko Ko Myint<\/strong> said, \u201cI feel I have done my duty.\u201d Official results are expected later this week, but the USDP is expecting their victory soon after polling stations close.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buksan ng Myanmar ang final round ng buwanang eleksyon nitong Linggo, kung saan ang pro-military party ay patungo sa malakas na panalo.
