Earlier, the <strong data-start=\"857\" data-end=\"880\">Monetary Board (MB)<\/strong> lowered the key interest rate from <strong data-start=\"916\" data-end=\"933\">4.75% to 4.5%<\/strong> last month. The reduction also included overnight deposits from 4.25% to 4%, and overnight lending facilities from 5.25% to 5%.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1087\" data-end=\"1485\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the BSP, economic growth is expected to remain <strong data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1154\">modest<\/strong> in the first semester of 2026, but there will be a rebound in 2027 supported by the previous <strong data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1263\">policy easing measures<\/strong>. In a previous press briefing, Remolona noted that growth slowed in the third quarter to <strong data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1365\">4%<\/strong> due to the impact of the corruption controversy, but the economy is expected to recover this year and next.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1487\" data-end=\"1893\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Remolona added that the BSP hopes that <strong data-start=\"1532\" data-end=\"1570\">government infrastructure spending<\/strong> will return to normal levels and become more effective, along with <strong data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1683\">improving investor and consumer sentiment<\/strong>. He also indicated that any further easing may be limited, while continuing to assess the impact of rate cuts and other <strong data-start=\"1828\" data-end=\"1853\">economic developments<\/strong> including possible supply shocks.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1895\" data-end=\"2350\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">On the <strong data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"1921\">inflation<\/strong> aspect, the BSP chief said it is <strong data-start=\"1953\" data-end=\"1973\">\u201cbroadly benign\u201d<\/strong> and that the expectations of businesses, households, and economists remain <strong data-start=\"2053\" data-end=\"2070\">well-anchored<\/strong>. Inflation is expected to be low this year but return to target in 2026 and 2027.
