As of <strong data-start=\"561\" data-end=\"579\">December 2025<\/strong>, only 59 percent believe that <strong data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"660\">corrupt officials<\/strong> will be held accountable, down from 71 percent in September.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"1069\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the survey conducted among 1,200 adults from <strong data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"782\">December 12 to 15<\/strong>, 13 percent believed that officials would not be punished, up from 8 percent in the previous report. The data came five months after <strong data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"996\">President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.<\/strong> called for a thorough <strong data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1027\">investigation<\/strong> into the country's flood control projects.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1408\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Investigations uncovered <strong data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1119\">collusion<\/strong> between politicians, government executives, and contractors in a <strong data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1217\">kickback<\/strong> scheme that resulted in the corruption of billions of pesos of tax money. This included <strong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1342\">the filing of charges, the return of corrupt money<\/strong>, the arrest of suspects, and several <strong data-start=\"1382\" data-end=\"1405\">government reforms<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1410\" data-end=\"1800\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Despite several arrests, the public and critics say that <strong data-start=\"1473\" data-end=\"1509\">the \u201cbig fish\u201d<\/strong> in the scandal have yet to be caught, particularly <strong data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1553\">Elizaldy Co<\/strong>, former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. who has been out of the country since last year. As a result, public confidence in the <strong data-start=\"1682\" data-end=\"1725\">administration\u2019s response to corruption<\/strong> has declined, especially given the lack of meaningful progress in investigations.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1802\" data-end=\"2300\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">As for the <strong data-start=\"1819\" data-end=\"1851\">Senate Blue Ribbon Committee<\/strong>, an estimated one-third of Filipinos believe that \u201c<strong data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1988\">the truth is only occasionally known but the impact is limited<\/strong>.\u201d Most doubt the trust in the Senate, the President (48 percent), and the <strong data-start=\"2069\" data-end=\"2077\">DPWH<\/strong> (59 percent) in resolving the issue.
