The Chinese New Energy Vehicle brand reported that it sold <strong data-start=\"511\" data-end=\"526\">2.26 million<\/strong> battery electric vehicles (BEVs), up nearly <strong data-start=\"580\" data-end=\"587\">28%<\/strong> compared to 2024. Meanwhile, Tesla sold just <strong data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"663\">1.6 million<\/strong>, down <strong data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"683\">8.6%<\/strong>, the biggest decline in the company's history.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"741\" data-end=\"1178\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In the fourth quarter, Tesla's sales fell to about <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"822\">418,227<\/strong> units, down <strong data-start=\"842\" data-end=\"851\">15.6%<\/strong> from a year earlier. While BYD's full-year performance was strong, it also experienced its <strong data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"1014\">longest slowdown in five years<\/strong>, due to fierce competition in China. There are more than <strong data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1085\">50 EV makers<\/strong>, including Geely, Xiaomi, and Leapmotor, which are gradually eroding BYD's market share.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1583\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">From <strong data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1195\">35%<\/strong> in 2023, BYD's market share fell to <strong data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1249\">29%<\/strong> in the first 11 months of 2025. During the same period, sales fell by more than <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1333\">5%<\/strong>, while Geely's sales increased by almost <strong data-start=\"1377\" data-end=\"1384\">90%<\/strong>. Due to low prices and intense competition in China, BYD has had to <strong data-start=\"1468\" data-end=\"1508\">expand its market overseas<\/strong>, including Latin America, South East Asia, and parts of Europe.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1946\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">BYD's sales outside China rose to <strong data-start=\"1630\" data-end=\"1648\">1 million units<\/strong>, up <strong data-start=\"1660\" data-end=\"1668\">150%<\/strong> from 2024. The company aims to sell <strong data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1755\">1.6 million vehicles overseas<\/strong> by 2026, though it has not yet released a total target.
