The anomaly was allegedly identified in the <strong data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"792\">preparation of the payroll<\/strong> by the DOJ Payroll Section.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"1088\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The NBI stated that <strong data-start=\"839\" data-end=\"890\">the suspect reactivated the payroll accounts<\/strong> of <strong data-start=\"894\" data-end=\"950\">retired, resigned, and inactive prosecutors<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"955\" data-end=\"985\">transferred the benefits<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1013\">\u201cmule accounts.\u201d<\/strong> Because the suspect was in possession of the payroll, the illegal transaction was allegedly made.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1403\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The NBI conducted an <strong data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1135\">entrapment operation<\/strong> on <strong data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1171\">Monday, December 22, 2025<\/strong>, around <strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1191\">4\u20135 PM<\/strong> at the <strong data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1229\">DOJ Payroll Section in Manila<\/strong>, after confirming that the <strong data-start=\"1257\" data-end=\"1300\">Performance Enhancement Incentive (PEI)<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1304\" data-end=\"1343\">Special Recognition Incentive (SRI)<\/strong> were <strong data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1360\">credited<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1402\">accounts connected to the suspect<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1405\" data-end=\"1717\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The suspect and several <strong data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1437\">accomplices<\/strong> were charged with <strong data-start=\"1455\" data-end=\"1487\">malversation of public funds<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1508\">qualified theft<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1519\">graft<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1566\">cybercrime-related cases<\/strong>, and are currently <strong data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1602\">in custody<\/strong>.
