It is alleged that <strong data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"764\">P8.8 million<\/strong> of funds is missing and there is <strong data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"811\">falsification<\/strong> of documents. This is <strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"849\">non-bailable<\/strong> and can lead to <strong data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"899\">life imprisonment<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"902\" data-end=\"1190\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Ombudsman panel recommended no bail for the malversation case because the amount lost exceeded the limit. According to Assistant Ombudsman <strong data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1080\">Dominic Clavano III<\/strong>, Co was charged for allegedly receiving <strong data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1151\">unwarranted benefits<\/strong> from contractor <strong data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1190\">Sunwest Inc.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1451\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Prosecutors also filed an urgent request for <strong data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1266\">arrest warrants<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1295\">hold departure orders<\/strong> for all respondents. The Ombudsman said this is the \u201c<strong data-start=\"1358\" data-end=\"1385\">first case of many<\/strong>\u201d to be filed in court as multiple investigations are still ongoing.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1789\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the <strong data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1512\">Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI)<\/strong>, there were misuses and <strong data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1571\">substandard steel sheet piles<\/strong> in the project, which could cause more than <strong data-start=\"1615\" data-end=\"1630\">P63 million<\/strong> in losses to the government. The ICI also reported that Co may have received <strong data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1726\">benefits<\/strong> from the project and may have <strong data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1774\">connections<\/strong> with Sunwest.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1791\" data-end=\"2171\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Ombudsman issued a statement that they will handle the case <strong data-start=\"1857\" data-end=\"1866\">honestly<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1883\">independently<\/strong>, and without <strong data-start=\"1895\" data-end=\"1909\">favoritism<\/strong>, and will ensure that those involved are held accountable.
