The waves were really big. They came over here. There were piles of sand there, they used to pile them up when the waves got bigger. They also entered the house,\" said Etol.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"1163\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Residents joined together to clean the streets and used sand and gravel to line their houses against flooding. \"We collect it and then we bring it to the house so that it doesn't get flooded. It will flood if we don't dump it,\" said Giovanni Tomedia.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1384\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to Brgy. Ex-O Edmund Cayanan, the seawall is a DPWH project and they have already contacted the contractor to clean up the mess. \"They didn't expect the water to rise that much, so they just put it there,\" he added.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1386\" data-end=\"1686\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Meanwhile, the Department of Public Services launched a cleanup on Espa\u00f1a Boulevard, while the DSQC cleaned G. Araneta Avenue in Quezon City.
