With the rapid increase in e-bikes, there is also a growing call for better regulation of their use.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"782\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">E-bike sales have increased in the Philippines because <strong data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"605\">electricity costs are cheaper<\/strong> compared to gasoline. Many people also use them because they do not require a license or registration, making them the favorite vehicle for many Filipinos in the city and province.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"784\" data-end=\"1036\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">But due to the lack of strict laws, there have been <strong data-start=\"846\" data-end=\"887\">road safety problems<\/strong>. Untrained children are often seen riding e-bikes, violating traffic laws, and sometimes even entering highways.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1038\" data-end=\"1319\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to LTO Executive Director Atty. Greg Pua, e-bikes must be <strong data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1123\">registered<\/strong> so that they have <strong data-start=\"1146\" data-end=\"1171\">unique identification<\/strong> such as chassis and motor number, so that they can be assigned a <strong data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1244\">plate number<\/strong>. This way, it will also be easier to identify violators of the law.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1510\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The LTO is still awaiting an official directive from the Department of Transportation, but it is clear that their goal is to make the use of e-bikes safer and more efficient throughout the country.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) ay sumusuporta sa plano na gawing mandatory ang e-bike registration sa buong bansa.
