She was accompanied by her lawyer <strong data-start=\"504\" data-end=\"527\">Atty. Alma Mallonga<\/strong> on the first day of the preliminary investigation.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"885\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In his statement, Barretto again <strong data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"627\">denied<\/strong> any connection to the disappearance of the sabungeros. According to Mallonga, the allegations against the actress are \u201c<strong data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"799\">baseless, without evidence, and unbelievable<\/strong>.\u201d He added that <strong data-start=\"822\" data-end=\"856\">witness Julie Patidongan<\/strong> lacks credibility.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"887\" data-end=\"1109\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Barretto declined to comment on the case but when asked if he believed in a fair investigation, he said: <strong data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1035\">\u201cI trust.\u201d<\/strong> Patidongan and the families of the missing also attended the hearing.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1426\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The next hearing is set for September 29.<\/strong> According to <strong data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1164\">Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Charlie Guhit<\/strong>, they are still waiting for other documents from the <strong data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1225\">PNP<\/strong> before deciding whether there is enough evidence to file the case in court. If there is no solid evidence, it can <strong data-start=\"1410\" data-end=\"1424\">be dismissed.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1428\" data-end=\"1714\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">It will be recalled that <strong data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1469\">Patidongan<\/strong> implicated <strong data-start=\"1475\" data-end=\"1517\">Atong Ang, Barretto, and three others<\/strong> as the alleged masterminds behind the disappearance of the sabungeros. But Ang and Barretto denied this.
