He had just returned from a prayer meeting with his family when the shooting occurred. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"655\" data-end=\"889\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The police confirmed that Abrina was a former legal officer of the DepEd Palawan and was last assigned to the Philippine Ports Authority. The Puerto Princesa police have formed a <em data-start=\"796\" data-end=\"837\">Special Investigation Task Group (SITG)<\/em> to look into the case.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"1141\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the National Union of Peoples\u2019 Lawyers, Abrina is the eighth lawyer to be killed since the current administration began. The <em data-start=\"1060\" data-end=\"1075\">Supreme Court<\/em> strongly condemned the crime, calling it a \u201csenseless act of violence.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1452\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The <em data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1228\">Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Palawan Chapter<\/em> also issued a statement saying that Abrina's death was not an isolated case, but part of a worsening culture of <em data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1331\">impunity<\/em> and lack of fear of the law. They called on the PNP and NBI to immediately investigate and hold those responsible accountable.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1711\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The IBP promised to use all means to achieve justice for Abrina.
