The BYD Tang DM-i<\/strong> is designed to be a more affordable flagship SUV<\/strong>. It is priced at \u20b12,098,000<\/strong>, cheaper than other mid-size SUVs that usually exceed \u20b12.5M<\/strong>. It has a plug-in hybrid powertrain<\/strong>, so it is fuel-efficient and has over 1,100 km of combined range<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

In design<\/strong>, the large grille with dragon-scale style<\/strong> is striking, but not as \u201chead-turner\u201d as the EV model. Inside, the former still feels premium due to the clean interior<\/strong> and bucket-style seats<\/strong>. The two-spoke steering wheel and large touchscreen (which no longer rotates) are additional modern features.<\/span><\/p>

When it comes to ride comfort<\/strong>, the Tang DM-i performs well. The steering wheel<\/strong> is light, stable on the road, and cushy over bumps\u2014almost as soft as popular SUVs. The electric motor<\/strong> with 271 hp and 315 Nm of torque<\/strong> provides the traction, while the transition from EV mode to hybrid is seamless.<\/span><\/p>

But here too, the shortcomings<\/strong> appear. The aircon vents in the second row<\/strong> are weak, the sunroof cover<\/strong> is thin, and the third row<\/strong> is cramped and has no ventilation. On a hot day, the back is hot and uncomfortable, especially if a child or elderly person is sitting.<\/span><\/p>

If you're looking for an executive car<\/strong> or family SUV<\/strong>, the Tang DM-i might be a little lacking in comfort. But for a couple or small family who wants a economical and affordable 7-seater hybrid<\/strong>, this is perfect.
