From P13.2703, the total rate has dropped to <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"514\">P13.0851 per kWh<\/strong>. For a family using <strong data-start=\"547\" data-end=\"558\">200 kWh<\/strong>, this equates to a savings of approximately <strong data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"609\">P37<\/strong> on their bill.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"631\" data-end=\"968\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to <strong data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"677\">Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga<\/strong>, the reduction in <strong data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"715\">generation charge<\/strong> or electricity cost from suppliers brought about the rate reduction this month. The generation rate dropped by <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"831\">P0.2603 per kWh<\/strong> due to lower charges from <strong data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"923\">Power Supply Agreements (PSAs)<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"965\">Independent Power Producers (IPPs)<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"970\" data-end=\"1263\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Although the rate from the <strong data-start=\"1005\" data-end=\"1049\">Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM)<\/strong> increased due to higher demand and plant shutdowns, it did not match the overall rate reduction. He said, \u201cWe hope that this rate reduction will at least provide some relief to customers.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1508\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Based on the data, 65% of the electricity comes from <strong data-start=\"1310\" data-end=\"1318\">PSAs<\/strong>, 29% from <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1335\">IPPs<\/strong>, and six percent from <strong data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1380\">WESM<\/strong>. Meanwhile, the <strong data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1432\">transmission charge<\/strong> slightly increased by <strong data-start=\"1437\" data-end=\"1460\">P0.113 per kWh<\/strong> due to increased costs for ancillary services.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1697\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">However, other charges such as taxes and other charges decreased by <strong data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1603\">P0.0379 per kWh<\/strong>.
