According to Attaullah Baig, approximately <strong data-start=\"549\" data-end=\"568\">1,500 engineers<\/strong> had access to <em data-start=\"587\" data-end=\"598\">user data<\/em> without proper oversight, potentially violating a 2020 government order that imposed a fine of nearly <strong data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"717\">\u20b1285 billion<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"1141\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In the complaint, Baig said he discovered during an internal test that user data such as <em data-start=\"797\" data-end=\"831\">contact info, IP address, and profile photo<\/em> could be <strong data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"885\">transferred or stolen<\/strong> without an audit trail. He allegedly repeatedly reported the problem to officials, including CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He subsequently suffered <em data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1053\">negative reviews<\/em>, verbal warnings, and was fired in February 2025 for alleged \u201cpoor performance.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1393\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The lawsuit also added that Meta blocked the implementation of <em data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1230\">security features<\/em> against <strong data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1261\">account takeovers<\/strong> that affected an estimated <strong data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1317\">100,000 users daily<\/strong>. The company allegedly chose to prioritize <em data-start=\"1360\" data-end=\"1373\">user growth<\/em> over safety.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1395\" data-end=\"1694\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Meta strongly denied the accusation and said Baig left due to <em data-start=\"1471\" data-end=\"1489\">poor performance<\/em>. According to the company, several senior engineers attested to the poor quality of his work. They added that he was not really the \u201chead of security,\u201d but merely a lower position.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1696\" data-end=\"1891\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Baig is seeking reinstatement, back pay, and damages.
