We've been together as a couple for a year, but we've also known each other for two years. I didn't need a lover, <strong data-start=\"998\" data-end=\"1040\">I wasn't looking for a gift\u2014just an effort.<\/strong> I wrote handwritten letters, I handed them to him to show that I was thinking of him. Yes, he hid them, but sometimes, he didn't even write me a letter in return. Until I slowly stopped because I was tired of waiting. Once, I said that even just one letter from him would make me happy. But even that simple, there was still nothing.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1915\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">I thought, maybe he could make me happy in other ways. So I asked for at least one <strong data-start=\"1534\" data-end=\"1546\">flower<\/strong>. I know my favorite is <strong data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1597\">sunflower<\/strong>, but he always said, \u201cnext time\u201d or \u201cit\u2019s not here, just buy it.\u201d It hurt because it was like I was the one <strong data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1722\">begging<\/strong> for something small. I didn\u2019t want a bouquet or an expensive gift, even if it was just a flower he passed along the way, I would have been happy. But even then, he didn\u2019t do it.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1917\" data-end=\"2576\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In addition, we are in a <strong data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"1963\">long-distance relationship<\/strong>. Because of that, I prefer that he shows effort. I miss him, he says he misses me too, but whenever he visits, I'm the one <strong data-start=\"2099\" data-end=\"2113\">spending money<\/strong>. Even on our dates, I pay for it. When he <strong data-start=\"2169\" data-end=\"2197\">borrows money<\/strong>, he always promises, \u201cI'll pay it all back, promise.\u201d If he borrows \u20b12,000, he only gets half back\u2014only \u20b11,000. At first, I ignored him, thinking that maybe he just doesn't exist. But as time goes on, I feel like I'm the \u201cman\u201d in our relationship. I'm the provider, I'm the one who adjusts, I'm the one who always gives, while he... isn't.<\/p><p data-start=\"2578\" data-end=\"2950\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Now, I wonder if <strong data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2617\">I'm wrong<\/strong> to expect more from him. I understand that he doesn't have much yet, but how long can I <strong data-start=\"2733\" data-end=\"2748\">wait<\/strong> to feel that I'm important to him too?
