According to BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr., platforms were given <strong data-start=\"474\" data-end=\"485\">48 hours<\/strong> to remove the links and others who were caught received <strong data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"593\">cease-and-desist orders<\/strong> before finally complying.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"620\" data-end=\"886\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"637\" data-end=\"659\">gambling merchants<\/strong> will no longer be allowed on e-wallet apps because they pose a risk of <strong data-start=\"702\" data-end=\"722\">money laundering<\/strong> and other illegal activities. The BSP admitted that e-wallet companies will see a decline in revenue because a large portion of their income comes from online gambling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"888\" data-end=\"1123\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Remolona said that if this is not resolved, it is possible that the Philippines' removal from the <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1011\">FATF gray list<\/strong> could be affected again. However, he assured that the issue will be resolved and that the BSP will continue to study <strong data-start=\"1094\" data-end=\"1120\">additional safeguards<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1125\" data-end=\"1388\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">During a summit, President Marcos highlighted the dangers of <strong data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1212\">online gambling<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1233\">digital fraud<\/strong>. He said stopping gambling access to e-wallets would help protect Filipinos and the integrity of the country's <strong data-start=\"1356\" data-end=\"1376\">financial system<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1579\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Meanwhile, Remolona also drew attention to the danger of <strong data-start=\"1450\" data-end=\"1472\">political pressure<\/strong> on the independence of central banks, which could affect their decisions on <strong data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1576\">monetary policy<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ang Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ay nagpatupad ng total ban sa gambling links sa mga e-wallet.
