This is a government step to <strong data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"551\">hold accountable those responsible<\/strong> for failed flood control projects.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"928\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to <strong data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"645\">COA Chairperson Gamaliel A. Cordoba<\/strong>, this is in compliance with the directive of <strong data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"712\">President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.<\/strong> to investigate <strong data-start=\"733\" data-end=\"757\">alleged irregularities<\/strong> in government programs. The memorandum emphasized that due to <strong data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"843\">serious issues<\/strong> in the implementation of projects in Bulacan, a <strong data-start=\"910\" data-end=\"925\">fraud audit<\/strong> is urgently needed.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"930\" data-end=\"1182\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The audit covered <strong data-start=\"965\" data-end=\"1015\">Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)<\/strong> projects in flood-prone Bulacan, where up to <strong data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1080\">\u20b144 billion<\/strong> was allocated. This is the largest portion of funds in the entire <strong data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1154\">Region 3<\/strong>, or 45% of the total funds.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1184\" data-end=\"1482\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In total, <strong data-start=\"1212\" data-end=\"1229\">Central Luzon<\/strong> received <strong data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1247\">\u20b198 billion<\/strong> from July 1, 2022 to May 30, 2025, equivalent to 18% of the <strong data-start=\"1310\" data-end=\"1325\">\u20b1548 billion<\/strong> funds for <strong data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1369\">flood control projects<\/strong> in the country. Cordoba ordered all <strong data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1425\">auditors<\/strong> to immediately submit documents for the fraud audit.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1684\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">When the President visited <strong data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1533\">Calumpit, Bulacan<\/strong>, he saw a river project that was declared finished but was not yet complete, thus further emphasizing the importance of the investigation.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ang Commission on Audit (COA) inutos ang fraud audit sa mga flood control projects sa Bulacan.
