This comes after allegations of <strong data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"545\">marijuana<\/strong> use by a staff member inside the building.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"960\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In a letter sent to Senate President Francis Escudero on August 17, Sotto cited a report about Senator Robin Padilla's staffer, <strong data-start=\"733\" data-end=\"753\">Nadia Montenegro<\/strong>, who was allegedly caught coming from a bathroom where marijuana was detected. According to Sotto, such testing was already conducted in 2018 in accordance with Republic Act 9165 and Civil Service Commission policy.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1139\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Sotto stressed that this step is important to maintain a <strong data-start=\"1031\" data-end=\"1054\">drug-free workplace<\/strong> and strengthen <strong data-start=\"1072\" data-end=\"1116\">integrity, morality, and accountability<\/strong> in the public service.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1411\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Escudero confirmed that he received the letter and assured that steps are being taken to resolve the matter. Meanwhile, Montenegro was granted leave while the investigation continues. He was given until <strong data-start=\"1366\" data-end=\"1379\">August 19<\/strong> to submit an explanation.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1413\" data-end=\"1662\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">In response, Deputy Minority Leader <strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1475\">Juan Miguel Zubiri<\/strong> and his entire staff immediately underwent drug testing.
