Yesterday, the agency ordered the removal of the vendors after a surprise inspection by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"920\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"609\">The<\/strong> walkway is connected to a mall going to the LRT-1 EDSA Station. According to Dizon, he will summon the mall owner to find out if there was a previous agreement with the government. He also added that he will ask the Philippine Coast Guard to deploy <strong data-start=\"858\" data-end=\"870\">armed<\/strong> personnel to prevent the vendors from returning.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"1203\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"930\">According to the secretary, he understands the situation of the vendors but they are not allowed to sell on public and government property such as the footbridge. \u201cI understand them and I feel sorry for them because they need to make a profit, but they cannot sell here,\u201d said Dizon.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1441\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1214\">A few<\/strong> vendors admitted that they knew they were not allowed there but were asking for a little more time. \u201cWe know it is not allowed, but we are asking for a little more time so we can eat,\u201d said Sultan Nagapatamo, one of the vendors.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1667\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1450\">The inspection was conducted with Gabriel Go from the MMDA Special Operations Group Strike Force after Dizon received an open letter from the former state auditor who shared his experience with the train.<span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1450\"><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ang mga tindero sa footbridge at walkway ng MRT-3 Taft Avenue ay nagbabayad ng hanggang \u20b190,000 na renta kada buwan, ayon sa Department of Transportation (DOTr).
