According to the BIR, they allegedly purchased fake receipts or \"ghost receipts\" to evade taxes.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"530\" data-end=\"822\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"530\" data-end=\"537\">BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. himself filed the complaint with the Department of Justice (DOJ) on August 7. He said that businesses in various industries such as construction, manufacturing, food, electronics, entertainment, marketing, and retail are involved.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"824\" data-end=\"1035\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"824\" data-end=\"850\">The BIR has failed to collect \u20b11.41 billion in taxes due to illegal transactions by the said companies.
