According to Commodore Jay Tarriela, PCG spokesperson for the WPS, the ships were detected using the <strong data-start=\"474\" data-end=\"507\">Dark Vessel Detection Program<\/strong> from the Canadian government.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"876\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The ship <strong data-start=\"551\" data-end=\"567\">Bei Diao 996<\/strong> was located <strong data-start=\"587\" data-end=\"608\">40 nautical miles<\/strong> west of <strong data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"657\">Bajo de Masinloc (Panatag Shoal)<\/strong>. Meanwhile, the <strong data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"696\">Xiang Yang Hong 10<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"714\">Zhuhai Yun<\/strong> were <strong data-start=\"723\" data-end=\"745\">195 nautical miles<\/strong> off the coast of <strong data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"784\">Rizal, Palawan<\/strong>. The ships reportedly departed from <strong data-start=\"826\" data-end=\"846\">Guangdong, China<\/strong> in mid-June.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"1485\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The <strong data-start=\"901\" data-end=\"917\">Bei Diao 996<\/strong> is suspected of conducting <strong data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"974\">illegal marine scientific research<\/strong> near Panatag Shoal, while two others are doing similar activities around <strong data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1095\">Balagtas Reef<\/strong>. Tarriela said the Bei Diao 996 is China's largest test ship for <strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1204\">deep-sea operations<\/strong>, while the Xiang Yang Hong 10 is capable of conducting <strong data-start=\"1259\" data-end=\"1279\">deep-sea surveys<\/strong> and deploying <strong data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1318\">unmanned vehicles<\/strong>. The Zhuhai Yun is the world's first <strong data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1388\">intelligent unmanned drone carrier<\/strong> capable of conducting <strong data-start=\"1429\" data-end=\"1455\">oceanographic research<\/strong> and possibly military use.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1487\" data-end=\"1699\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan ordered his personnel to <strong data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1541\">block and challenge<\/strong> ships to prevent research within the Philippines' <strong data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1683\">200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ay nakakita ng tatlong Chinese research ships na naglalayag sa West Philippine Sea.
