This was due to <strong data-start=\"411\" data-end=\"432\">strong waves<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"455\">southwesterly winds<\/strong> brought by <strong data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"493\">Tropical Storm Crising<\/strong>. The barges were to be towed by <strong data-start=\"526\" data-end=\"546\">two tugboats<\/strong> but <strong data-start=\"552\" data-end=\"572\" data-is-only-node=\"\">the rope broke<\/strong> while taking shelter in the area.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"814\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to <strong data-start=\"619\" data-end=\"649\">Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla<\/strong> of the <strong data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"679\">Philippine Coast Guard<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"681\" data-end=\"711\">the 21 crew members are safe<\/strong>. He said the waves and strong winds caused the barges to <strong data-start=\"772\" data-end=\"799\">to run aground<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"816\" data-end=\"1056\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The barges came from <strong data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"853\">Negros<\/strong>, and were carrying <strong data-start=\"873\" data-end=\"899\">13 tons of molasses<\/strong> that were supposed to be delivered to a <strong data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"951\">distillery in Balayan<\/strong>. There was <strong data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"986\">a little molasses leaking<\/strong>, but <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1017\">the barges were empty of fuel<\/strong> so it was not dangerous.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1058\" data-end=\"1277\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Tuvilla explained that the molasses are <strong data-start=\"1085\" data-end=\"1096\">organic<\/strong> so <strong data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1142\">it is not harmful<\/strong> to the environment. The <strong data-start=\"1179\" data-end=\"1208\">marine environmental team<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1212\" data-end=\"1235\">local government<\/strong> have also inspected the area to ensure it is safe.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1405\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">When <strong data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1308\">the weather improves<\/strong>, the <strong data-start=\"1327\" data-end=\"1347\">rescue operation<\/strong> will begin to tow and remove the stranded barges.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ang tatlong barge na may lamang molasses ay na-stranded sa baybayin ng Barangay Talisay, Calaca City, Batangas noong Sabado.
