and flooding continue in the country.<\/strong> According to the Pediatric Nephrology Society of the Philippines, this is especially dangerous for children who drown in floods that may be contaminated with rat or animal urine.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"810\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"647\">The bacteria can enter the body through wounds or abrasions on the skin that have been soaked in water.<\/strong> Some of the symptoms of leptospirosis in children are <em data-start=\"701\" data-end=\"810\">fever, abdominal pain, red eyes, jaundice, little urination, and difficulty breathing.<\/em><\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"812\" data-end=\"992\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"812\" data-end=\"931\">Parents are advised to immediately take children who have been submerged in the flood, even just once, to the health center.<\/strong> Immediate treatment is important to prevent complications.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1212\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1145\">According to experts, even if there are no wounds on the feet, it is advisable to take 2 tablets of <em data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1098\">Doxycycline 100 mg<\/em> within 24 hours after entering the flood.<\/strong> It is free at health centers so don't ignore it.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1368\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1325\">\u201cLet's be careful, let's not add to the number of people with <em data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1286\">leptospirosis<\/em>.
