facing trial after being accused of murdering <strong data-start=\"404\" data-end=\"419\">15 patients<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"425\" data-end=\"447\">2021 to 2024<\/strong> in <strong data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"461\">Berlin<\/strong>. According to investigators, he murdered <strong data-start=\"508\" data-end=\"532\">12 women and 3 men<\/strong> by <strong data-start=\"551\" data-end=\"578\">lethal injection<\/strong> and in some cases <strong data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"623\">even burned down the victims' homes<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"668\" data-is-only-node=\"\">hide the evidence<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"929\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the prosecution, Johannes M. <strong data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"721\">pretended to be a caregiver<\/strong> but actually intended to <strong data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"792\">kill patients<\/strong> in their homes. He took advantage of their <strong data-start=\"829\" data-end=\"864\">trust as a doctor<\/strong> and allegedly acted as if he \"had control over life and death.\"<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"931\" data-end=\"1256\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"931\" data-end=\"942\">Johannes M. was found<\/strong> after <strong data-start=\"966\" data-end=\"997\">a coworker became suspicious when he noticed a series of patient deaths in the fire. Initially, only four cases were filed against him, but the ongoing investigation uncovered <strong data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1209\">more suspicious deaths<\/strong>\u2014including that of his <strong data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1243\">mother-in-law<\/strong> in Poland.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1258\" data-end=\"1574\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to reports, he used a <strong data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1313\">muscle relaxant<\/strong> that paralyzes the patient's breathing and <strong data-start=\"1358\" data-end=\"1413\">causes death within minutes<\/strong>. In five cases, he even <strong data-start=\"1431\" data-end=\"1444\">set fire<\/strong> to the victim's house after the murder. In one incident, he <strong data-start=\"1516\" data-end=\"1571\">killed two people in one day<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1896\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Johannes M. has no clear <strong data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1604\">motive<\/strong> other than <strong data-start=\"1631\" data-end=\"1643\">murder<\/strong>. He is scheduled to face <strong data-start=\"1673\" data-end=\"1702\">35 hearings until 2026<\/strong>, and the prosecution is expected to ask for <strong data-start=\"1718\" data-end=\"1749\">life imprisonment<\/strong>.
