For example, <strong data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"671\">0% tax<\/strong> for over <strong data-start=\"683\" data-end=\"693\">5 years<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"701\">5%<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"717\">4\u20135 years<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"729\">12%<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"733\" data-end=\"745\">3\u20134 years<\/strong>. Now, a flat 20% tax will be imposed on all long-term deposits placed since July 1. Also, foreign currency deposits, from the previous 15%, have been reduced to 20%.<\/p><p data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1177\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"964\">Deposits placed before <strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1016\">July 1, 2025<\/strong> are not affected. They will remain taxed until the maturity date. If there is a valid <strong data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1123\">tax exemption<\/strong> from the <strong data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1139\">BIR<\/strong>, they will still be taxed.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1179\" data-end=\"1496\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The new law <strong data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1258\">Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act (CMEPA)<\/strong> aims to make the system for taxing income from financial investments <strong data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1296\">simpler, more consistent<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1320\">more predictable<\/strong>. According to banks, <strong data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1434\">investors<\/strong> will benefit from this reform because it is in line with <strong data-start=\"1475\" data-end=\"1495\">global standards<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1498\" data-end=\"1691\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The CMEPA is a step towards a <strong data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1567\">modern financial tax system<\/strong>.
