According to him, based on his <strong data-start=\"464\" data-end=\"487\">research and reading<\/strong>, this issue cannot \"cross over\" to the new Congress.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"861\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Although he is not a lawyer, Bato explained, <strong data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"620\">many senators<\/strong> also have the same belief. One of them is <strong data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"694\">Senator Francis Tolentino<\/strong> who gave a clear statement on the issue. He said, <strong data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"765\">each Congress is independent<\/strong>, so whatever was started in the 19th is not obligated to be continued in the 20th.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"863\" data-end=\"1165\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">He added that the Senate must <strong data-start=\"904\" data-end=\"965\">take action once the articles of impeachment are transmitted<\/strong>, but the question is whether there is enough time in the 19th Congress to do so. If not, it will be <strong data-start=\"1072\" data-end=\"1095\">unfinished business<\/strong> and must be concluded by the end of the current Congress.<\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1436\" class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Bato clarified that the <strong data-start=\"1190\" data-end=\"1223\">jurisdiction of the 20th Congress<\/strong> in the case initiated by the 19th is a big question that will surely cause intense debate.
