The tremors were felt in the capital Taipei.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"232\" data-end=\"331\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">According to the USGS, the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 70 kilometers in Yilan County, near Taipei.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"333\" data-end=\"532\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">No injuries or property damage were reported, according to the Yilan Fire Bureau. Trains and high-speed rail were also not affected, except for temporary delays on the Taipei Metro.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"534\" data-end=\"679\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Earthquakes are common in Taiwan due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire\u2014one of the most active seismic zones in the world.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"681\" data-end=\"818\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It can be recalled that in April 2024, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the island, killing 17 people and causing extensive damage.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"820\" data-end=\"958\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Thanks to a more strengthened early warning system and stronger building codes, Taiwan is now better prepared for such disasters.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Isang 5.0 magnitude na lindol ang tumama sa hilagang-silangang bahagi ng Taiwan nitong Miyerkules, ayon sa US Geological Survey.
