But in 2023, she received a <strong data-start=\"549\" data-end=\"568\">womb transplant<\/strong> from her sister <strong data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"606\">Amy<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"904\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Two years after the operation, Grace gave birth in February to a <strong data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"719\">healthy baby girl<\/strong> whom they named <strong data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"750\">Amy<\/strong>, in gratitude for her sister. But that wasn't possible, so <strong data-start=\"1060\" data-end=\"1074\">Amy Purdie<\/strong>, her sister who already has children of her own, became the donor. Amy says it was all worth it because of the <strong data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1197\">immediate joy<\/strong> she gave Grace.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"1227\" data-end=\"1544\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The transplant surgery took 17 hours and was performed by a team of <strong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1320\">over 30 medical experts<\/strong>. The process was not easy, especially as it was affected by the <strong data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1402\">COVID pandemic<\/strong>. But it finally happened at <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1464\">Churchill Hospital, Oxford<\/strong>, and was successful. They plan to have a second baby before the donated womb is removed to eliminate the need for <strong data-start=\"1732\" data-end=\"1754\">immunosuppressants<\/strong>.
