Authorities say nearly <strong data-start=\"345\" data-end=\"359\">650 people<\/strong> have been infected with the disease, most of whom were <strong data-start=\"402\" data-end=\"414\">unvaccinated<\/strong>. The new incident comes from Texas, which reported its first measles-related death of a child in February, the first <strong data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"562\">measles fatality<\/strong> in the US in nearly a decade. Cases are currently rising in various states, from <strong data-start=\"674\" data-end=\"684\">Alaska<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"705\">Florida<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"1191\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Robert F. Kennedy Jr., secretary of the <strong data-start=\"756\" data-end=\"799\">Department of Health and Human Services<\/strong>, said the most effective way to prevent measles is the <strong data-start=\"867\" data-end=\"882\">MMR vaccine<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"907\">CDC<\/strong> and his department are helping to distribute the vaccine in Texas, and are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their communities. According to the <strong data-start=\"1065\" data-end=\"1072\">CDC<\/strong>, 97% of measles cases are in people who have not been <strong data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1134\">vaccinated<\/strong>, putting them at higher risk of getting the disease.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1515\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The current outbreak is considered an important reminder to value <strong data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1293\">vaccines<\/strong>.
