data-start=\"322\" data-end=\"331\">Tonga<\/strong> early this morning. <strong data-start=\"356\" data-end=\"385\">Experts issued a tsunami alert<\/strong> but <strong data-start=\"408\" data-end=\"429\">it was quickly lifted<\/strong> after an assessment.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"456\" data-end=\"694\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the <strong data-start=\"472\" data-end=\"496\">US Geological Survey<\/strong>, the earthquake had a <strong data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"530\">depth of 29km<\/strong> and occurred <strong data-start=\"543\" data-end=\"570\">100km northeast<\/strong> of the main island of Tonga. <strong data-start=\"601\" data-end=\"673\">A few hours later, another earthquake (6.1 magnitude) was recorded<\/strong> in the same area.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"924\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">After the first earthquake, <strong data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"786\">the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center<\/strong> issued a tsunami alert, warning of dangerous waves. However, <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"921\">a few hours later, they announced that there was no longer a tsunami threat<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"926\" data-end=\"1168\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">According to the <strong data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"970\">Tonga Disaster Management Office<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"1018\">no casualties or damage to buildings were reported<\/strong>. Residents were advised to <strong data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1081\">move to higher ground<\/strong>, but after the warning was lifted, <strong data-start=\"1117\" data-end=\"1165\">people have returned to their homes<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\" translation-block\" data-start=\"1170\" data-end=\"1379\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Tonga, a country on the <strong data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1183\">Pacific Ring of Fire<\/strong>, consists of <strong data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1224\">171 islands<\/strong> and has a population of <strong data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1252\">over 100,000 people<\/strong>.
