Former President Rodrigo Duterte may be immediately transferred to The Hague, Netherlands after he was arrested by the International Police Organization (Interpol) yesterday morning after he landed at NAIA Terminal 3 from Hong Kong.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

According to <\/span>Kristina Conti<\/b>, <\/span>Assistant to Counsel of the ICC<\/b>, anyone arrested under an <\/span>ICC warrant<\/b>should be brought to The Hague as soon as possible.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Conti's statement:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\u201cA person arrested under an ICC warrant should be immediately flown to The Hague, Netherlands.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo said that the Philippine Embassy in The Hague has not yet received any directives regarding bringing Duterte there for his crimes against humanity case.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Manalo's statement:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\u201cWe have to wait and see how the next steps will unfold.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Manalo also did not comment on the role of the <\/span>Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)<\/span> in the issue, but he noted that there has been no communication between their agency and the <\/span>ICC<\/span> since the Philippines withdrew from the <\/span>Rome Statute<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

According to <\/span>Human Rights Lawyer Neri Colmenares<\/b>, there are three possible places where Duterte could be imprisoned if he is extradited from the country:<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

  1. ICC custody<\/b><\/span><\/li>
  2. In a third-party country<\/b><\/span><\/li>
  3. Directly in The Hague itself<\/b><\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
