Last year, President Ferdinand \u201cBongbong\u201d Marcos Jr. ordered a <\/span>comprehensive restructuring of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO)<\/b> and the revocation of all its licenses. According to him, the POGO industry is becoming a nest of <\/span>scam, corruption, and transnational crimes<\/b>. Because of this, Congress launched an investigation and sent a report to the <\/span>Department of Justice (DOJ)<\/b> to strengthen the law against foreign users of fake documents.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>

However, it is difficult to confiscate the illegally acquired assets of these foreigners. Right now, cases are going through the <\/span>Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA)<\/b>, but the current law is not enough to quickly recover illegal assets. According to Remulla, Congress needs to pass a new law to have a <\/span>more effective mechanism for the civil forfeiture<\/b> of properties obtained using forged documents.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Once the bill is approved, <\/span>cancellation of fake documents will be easier<\/b> and illegal assets of foreigners will be confiscated more quickly.
