Typhoon Julian has reportedly left one person missing and eight injured in northern Luzon, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>

In their 8 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said a 38-year-old man was reported missing in Barangay Cabcaborao, San Juan, Abra, after he was swept away by strong currents in the Tineg River, according to local authority.<\/span><\/p>

In Basco, Batanes, eight people sustained injuries.<\/span><\/p>

The NDRRMC also discussed that Typhoon Julian, the tenth typhoon to hit the Philippines this year, affected 43,093 families, or a total of 149,293 people, in the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera. Of these, 646 families (2,176 people) are currently being assisted in 58 evacuation centers, while 921 families (3,255 individuals) have sought safer places.<\/span><\/p>

At least 88 houses were damaged in different provinces, including Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Cagayan, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, and Mountain Province.<\/span><\/p>

Current and Movement of Cyclone Julian<\/b><\/span><\/p>

As of Wednesday morning, Typhoon Julian was slowly moving toward Taiwan. Signal No. remains. 1 in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northwestern Cagayan, and northern and western Ilocos Norte.<\/span><\/p>

As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, the typhoon was located 265 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, outside the Philippine area of \u200b\u200bresponsibility. It has winds reaching 165 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching 205 kilometers per hour.<\/span><\/p>

Expect moderate to heavy rains and strong winds in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.<\/span><\/p>

Julian gradually weakens due to the effect of dry air and cold ocean temperatures as it moves slowly. It is expected to re-enter the Philippine Area of \u200b\u200bResponsibility (PAR) later this evening and may make landfall in southwestern Taiwan.<\/span><\/p>

As the storm interacts with the mountains, it is expected to weaken further and have unpredictable movements.<\/span><\/p>
