Tumaas sa 4.4% ang inflation noong Hulyo, lumampas sa target ng gobyerno na nasa 2% hanggang 4%.<\/span><\/p>

Ang figure na ito ay mas mataas kumpara sa 3.7% na naitala noong Hunyo 2024 ngunit mas mababa kaysa sa 4.7% na nakita noong Hulyo 2023, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority, na nagdaos ng press conference noong Agosto 6.<\/span><\/p>

Ito ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon na lumampas ang inflation sa target range mula noong Nobyembre 2023.<\/span><\/p>

Sa taon hanggang ngayon, ang average headline inflation ay nasa 3.7%, na nananatili sa loob ng target range. Para sa unang kalahati ng 2024, ang inflation ay umabot sa 3.5%, na pangunahing pinasigla ng mataas na presyo ng bigas, na inaasahang magpapatuloy hanggang Hulyo.<\/span><\/p>

Ang core inflation, na hindi kasama ang mga presyo ng pagkain at enerhiya na pabago-bago, ay bumaba sa 2.9% noong Hulyo mula sa 3.1% noong Hunyo at 6.7% noong Hulyo 2023.<\/span><\/p>

Muling naging pangunahing sanhi ng inflation noong Hulyo ang presyo ng bigas, na nag-ambag ng 37.2% o 1.6 percentage points sa kabuuang 4.4% na inflation rate. Gayunpaman, ang inflation ng bigas ay nagpakita ng bahagyang pagbagal, bumaba sa 20.9% mula sa 22.5% noong Hunyo.<\/span><\/p>

Naglaan ang Department of Agriculture ng humigit-kumulang P510 milyon para sa mga subsidiya sa gasolina para sa mga magsasaka, na makikinabang ang higit sa 150,000 indibidwal na may higit sa P3,000 bawat isa sa tulong sa gasolina para sa Agosto at Setyembre.<\/span><\/p>

Ipinahayag ng BSP na ang pagtaas ng inflation ay inaasahan dahil sa mataas na presyo ng kuryente at base effects ngunit inaasahan ang pangkalahatang pagbaba ng trend mula Agosto 2024. Binanggit ng central bank na ang mga panganib sa inflation outlook para sa 2024 at 2025 ay bumaba dahil sa epekto ng pagbawas ng taripa sa pag-import ng bigas.<\/span><\/p>

Iminungkahi ni BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. na malamang na umabot sa tuktok ang inflation noong Hulyo at inaasahan na bababa pabalik sa mga target na antas. Binanggit din niya na maaaring isaalang-alang ng central bank ang pagbabawas ng key policy rate kung magpapatuloy ang pag-urong ng inflation pressures, na magiging unang pag-aangkop ng rate mula nang manatili sa steady rate na 6.5% mula Oktubre 2023.<\/span><\/p>
